The UPLB Interdisciplinary Studies Center for Water, led by Dr. Patricia Ann J. Sanchez, Professor, School of Environmental Science and Management (SESAM), conducted a field visit on the hydro-meteorological station in Angat Watershed Reservation of the National Power Corporation (NPC), last November 8, 2018. This is in line with the Balik-PhD project entitled “Ridge-to-reef Disaster Risk Assessment and Climate Change Impact Assessment of Floods and Droughts in the Agricultural Sector of Angat Watershed, Philippines”.

The agenda of the on-site visit is to see actual instruments used by the hydro-meteorological station in operating the Angat Watershed. As the project is on its experimental phase, the UPLB research team, together with Mr. Allan B. Cruz, a service engineer from BP Integrated Technologies, Inc. (BPIT), checked the feasibility of coupling with the instruments for data collection.

Mr. Mark Aguilar, the senior hydrologist of Angat Watershed and Mr. Manuel S. Lampitao, Jr. guided the research team in visiting the flood broadcasting and warning systems station, the actual rain gauges, and the Angat Watershed spillway.

The said project will start on setting up the instruments that will be used to get data from Angat Watershed. (Vanessa Camille A. Agbay)
