Establishment of the UPLB Environmental Science Society’s vision, mission, goal, and first draft of constitution

First appointed Executive Committee of the UPLB Environmental Science Society

A decade of pursuing academic excellence, committed to promote and advance environmental science

Vision

To be a nationally-recognized Society known for inculcating sustainable development principles through hands-on trainings, public fora, and  stakeholder-involved activities.

Mission

To foster camaraderie and fellowship among UPLB graduate students having environmental science as a major or cognate, and create  opportunities and programs for environmental science graduate students to test and practice ecological principles and sustainable  development concepts through science-based methods, academically rigorous approaches, and practical applications.

Goal

The UPLB Environmental Science Society aims to pursue academic excellence and to promote and advance environmental science and systems approach in solving environmental problems for sustainable development.

 

Activities of the Organization

  • SESAM Student Orientation
    (participant) provides an overview of the SESAM and Graduate School guidelines and policies
  • Comprehensive Exam Review for Environmental Science students
    organizes lectures and small group discussions for MS and PhD students for the Written Comprehensive Exam
  • Talakayan
    invites speakers to discuss contemporary issues related to environmental science and sustainable development
  • GIS Training
  • Outreach Program
    e.g., Coastal Clean-Up
