The Journal for Environmental Science and Management (JESAM) (ISSN 0119-11449) published by UPLB has increased to 0.517 impact factor in 2021 from 0.326 impact factor in 2020 based on the latest Journal Citation Report (JCR) by Clarivate Analytics.

The journal impact factor of an academic journal is a scientometric indicator developed by Clarivate that is calculated by the yearly mean number of citations of articles published in the last two years in a certain journal, as indexed by Clarivate’s Web of Science. Among the scientific community, impact factor has been used as an indicator of the importance of a journal within a particular field of discipline.

This latest ranking places JESAM at the second place in terms of impact factor in the Philippines among only four journals in the Philippines listed in the JCR with Impact Factor. Globally, the JCR contains more than 21,000 journals, from 254 research categories and 114 countries.

JESAM is a Clarivate Analytics Web of Science-indexed international journal that is produced semi-annually by the University of the Philippines Los Baños – School of Environmental Science and Management, (UPLB-SESAM). It is also indexed by Scopus. JESAM was also awarded with the Journal Challenge Grant of the Philippine Commission on Higher Education (CHED).

As a leading environmental science journal in the Philippines and the Southeast Asian region, JESAM features research articles on a wide range of environmental topics and issues employing integrated methods resulting in analyses that provide new insights in environmental science.

The Impact Factor is one of the many metrics that reflect the strong standing of JESAM and the UPLB-SESAM would like to congratulate all the authors; and extend its gratitude to the JESAM editorial board members, staff, reviewers and all its supporters for the past years. (RDAreglado)
