CHED Awards JESAM the Journal Challenge Grant

The Journal of Environmental Science and Management was formally awarded the Journal Challenge Grant of the Commission on Higher Education-Journal Incentive Pogram (CHED-JIP) last November 22, 2017, during the National Conference on Research, Innovation and Extension Night of Excellence at the Diamond Hall, Crowne Regency Hotel, Cebu City.

Representing JESAM to receive the award were Dr. Decibel F. Eslava, Dean of the School of Environmental Science and Management, and Mr. Thaddeus P. Lawas, Production Editor of JESAM.

During the awarding, former CHED Chairman, Dr. Angel C. Alcala, now the Chair of the Technical Working Group of the CHED-JIP, said that one of the aim CHED-JIP is to complement the research capacities of higher education institutions (HEIs). “We hope to encourage professors and researchers to publish their work in these CHED-awarded journals”, Dr. Alcala said. 

The award is accordance with the CHED Memorandum Order 53, Series of 2016. The grant is three years and it is valid until December 2019. JESAM is among the 11 journals awarded under Journal Challenge Grant, which is a JIP category of Philippine journals with indexing of the Thomson Reuters Web of Science and Scopus. Journal Challenge Grantees will also a cash incentive of PhP 500,000 per year for three years from CHED-JIP.
